I Want to Be a Digital Nomad, But I’m Still Stuck at Home

Ever feel like you’re meant for the digital nomad life but reality keeps you grounded? You’re not alone, and this is where my journey begins.

A moment I captured during a short trip to Sathtu Dupatha Island in Ibbankatuwa. Even small travels like this remind me why the dream of a nomadic life is worth chasing

Like many people, I’ve always dreamed of working while traveling the world. Watching YouTubers live the nomad lifestyle, riding scooters through Bali, working from cafés in Lisbon, or camping in the mountains of South America, makes my heart beat faster. Their lives look free, exciting, and full of meaning. I don’t want a vacation. I want that kind of life. A life where work fits around living, not the other way around.

But here I am, still at home.

I have responsibilities that can’t be ignored: family to care for, bills to pay, and a regular job that keeps me in one place. Financially, I can’t just pack a bag and leave. Emotionally, it’s even harder. Every time I watch a travel vlog, I feel both inspired and a little stuck. Maybe you know that feeling too?

That’s why I started this blog, Nomad Travel Vloggers.

This space is not about showing off a life I don’t have yet. It’s about building the life I want. I decided to stop just watching others live my dream and start learning how I could one day live it too. That means researching digital nomad visas, exploring remote work options, and understanding what it takes to travel without being a tourist. I’m not an expert, but I’m trying, and I’ll share everything I discover.

One of the first steps I’ve taken is looking into countries that welcome remote workers. I didn’t even know digital nomad visas existed until recently. Now I’m reading about Portugal, Estonia, and other countries that might say “yes” when I’m ready to go. It’s not much, but it’s a start. And that’s enough for now.

If you’re also dreaming of a nomadic life but still feel stuck in your current one, I’d love to hear from you. What’s stopping you? What are you doing to prepare? Maybe we’re not so far from it after all.

Thanks for reading. Let’s figure this out together.
